Registration and Breakfast
8:00AM – 9:00AM
Introduction to Ultrasound Technology
Attendees will learn the history of ultrasound technology and how ultrasound works, what the machine settings mean along with accuracy of scanning and pros versus cons. In addition, attendees will learn about the various probes available and how the different skin placements (e.g. coronal, sagittal) appear on the monitor.
9:00AM – 10:00AM
Introduction to MSK Ultrasound
Attendees will learn the specifics of musculoskeletal ultrasound. This includes what cartilage, bone, joint and soft tissues look like on ultrasound and specific settings to use for optimal visualization. In addition, attendees will learn how to hold the probes, adjust for various depth visualization, record images and the various uses for the technology (e.g. diagnostic vs interventional).
10:15AM – 12:30AM
Knee Sessions
Review of Knee Anatomy - attendees will learn the relevant anatomical structures in the knee that can be seen on ultrasound.
Ultrasound Evaluation of the Knee - Attendees will learn what a normal knee ultrasound looks like on ultrasound and how to perform a standardized review of the joint and important anatomical structures.
Ultrasound Evaluation of Knee Pathology - Attendees will learn how anatomical structures that are damaged appear on ultrasound. Also, how to measure and document knee pathology.
Hands-On Scanning: Knee - Attendees will receive hands on experience with both diagnostic and interventional ultrasound techniques to "cement" the newly learned skills.
